Sinai Mural

The Sinai Mural is complete! Created by local artist Jacquie Comrie, Colour Medicine is a seven-storey mural painted on the Murray Street parking structure across from Mount Sinai Hospital. In addition to beautifying the view for patients, staff and the community, the mural is an innovative fundraiser that lets art lovers build a digital version of the mural. Donations to the Sinai Mural will support Sinai Health’s programs that improve care for vulnerable communities.

Giving Back on
Giving Tuesday

Every year, after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is a day for giving back. That’s exactly what our community did, surpassing our $50,000 fundraising goal and raising over $74,000. Thanks to a matching gift of $50,000 from the Koffler Foundation, that impact will nearly double. Funds will support the Family Medicine Social Accountability and Health Equity Initiative, aimed at addressing inequities in health care and ensuring our care is inclusive, accessible and equitable.

Spin for Sinai

On October 2, 2022, a group of community members got spinning for a great cause! Spin for Sinai is an afternoon of spinning to raise funds to support research and improve care for people with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) at Sinai Health. Participants put up big watts on the leaderboard that translated into major dollars: the event raised over $719,000 last year, with a total of $1.1 million raised since Stacey and Jonathan Gitlin launched the event in 2019.

Champions of Care

In its second year, Sinai Health Foundation’s Champions of Care saw a fantastic range of fundraising initiatives led by our community of supporters. For example, Michael and Natalie hosted a neighbourhood barbecue that raised over $4,500 in honour of their experience in the NICU, and the Catalyst Gym community came together to raise over $8,500 by hosting various challenges for its staff and members.

This highly anticipated event, hosted by medical and wellness experts from Sinai Health, gave attendees an in-depth view into sexual and pelvic floor health goals. Future Sinai is comprised of Toronto’s young industry leaders, who have raised over $500,000 to ensure Sinai Health can continue to provide world-class care.

Hold’em for Life Charity Challenge

It was another record-breaking year for Hold’em for Life Charity Challenge, with more than 1,000 guests at back-to-back events raising over $4.6 million to support life-changing cancer research at Sinai Health, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and the University of Toronto. Since its inception, leaders across the asset management and real estate industries have raised an impressive $47 million for cancer research initiatives across the city.

Maliyah’s Hike

The third year of Maliyah’s hike was a special one for event organizer Dylan, Maliyah’s father, and his wife Stephanie. With Dylan’s mother recently diagnosed with glioblastoma, a deadly form of brain cancer, he knew he wanted to dedicate the event to her. Participants hiked 85 km and raised over $21,000 to support the development of Sinai Health’s Neurocritical Care Unit. Here, we care for vulnerable premature babies – babies like Maliyah, who faced multiple challenges at birth and overcame them all, thanks to the love of her parents and advanced care from Sinai’s Newton Glassman Charitable Foundation NICU team.

Venture Sinai

Venture Sinai is a unique initiative encompassing groups of philanthropists who have collectively raised more than $4 million in support of the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute (LTRI). Venture Sinai members were once again able to feel the buzz of excitement from hearing directly from LTRI scientists at in-person dinners held throughout the year, where our best and brightest present their research ideas, provide guests with an overview of Sinai Health and the LTRI, and showcase the power of giving.

28th annual Mount Sinai Classic

The Mount Sinai Classic, presented by Equitable Bank and Peerage Capital Partners, celebrated its 28th anniversary last year at Magna Golf Club. For the past 28 years, this signature golf event has raised over $12 million to benefit life-changing care and research across Sinai Health, including the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute.

Dare to Dream: Cars and Cocktails

It was an evening to remember at Leadership Sinai’s Dare to Dream: Cars and Cocktails, a private cocktail reception and fireside chat with Leadership Sinai founder Miles Nadal. The event marked the relaunch of Leadership Sinai, a network of emerging leaders and families driving critical support for Sinai Health. Guests took in the breathtaking Dare to Dream Automotive Museum’s 130 rare, classic and iconic cars and motorcycles, all while raising funds for the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute.
